Bird watching and nature watching | Asterina

Bird watching and nature watching

The excursion

The M/B Asterina will accompany you to admire the avifauna of the Sella del Diavolo from the sea.

The coastal habitat is one that offers various opportunities to a wide variety of sea birds like the Mediterranean shag along with the Sardinian sub-species (Phalacrocorax aristotelis desmarestii), accompanied by a multitude of gulls both royal gulls (Larus cachinnans michahellis) and common gulls  (L. ridibundus). We will be able to see the wild doves in the so-called “Wild Dove Cave”, one of the first known settlements of the Gulf of Cagliari from prehistoric times.

Amongst the birds of prey that inhabit the coastline one of the most admired is a pair of peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus) which have made their home on the cuffs of the Sella del Diavolo promontory.
